2013 DISCOVERY TOUR / TOUR D’HORIZON ~ North Gower & Kars

Call for Entry

Artisans, artists, growers and producers are invited to apply, as a stop or as a guest, to the 17th Discovery Tour / tour d’horizon ~ September 14th  & 15th - 10am to 5pm

All stops must be within the following boundaries:
  • to the South: Rideau River
  • to the West: Malakoff Road
  • to the East: Rideau Valley Dr. South,  and North up to the northern edge of Carleton Golf & Yacht Club.
  • to the North: Century Road up to First Line.
Applicants from outside these boundaries could be accommodated as guests.

REQUIREMENTS
  • FOR ARTISANS AND ARTISTS: ALL WORK MUST BE OF A CONSISTENTLY HIGH QUALITY, DESIGNED AND PRODUCED BY THE ARTISAN / ARTIST.
  • FOR GROWERS AND PRODUCERS: EXCELLENT QUALITY, LOCALLY PRODUCED PLANTS / PRODUCE OF WHICH OVER 50% IS LOCALLY GROWN / PRODUCED.

  • a cheque payable to “Discovery Tour” for the amount of $140.
Please note:
  1. Photo service available @$20. per image. Moira Law  613-883-5665.
  2. Any applicant applying after February 28th could still join the Tour, the same fees apply, however they may be too late to be listed in the brochure.
JURYING
The work of all new participants/guests will be juried by March 8th. You will be contacted re. jurying dates/times for delivery and pickup. Please make arrangements if you will be away close to this time.
Prospective new stops will be juried to insure that the premises are inviting and safe.

OBLIGATIONS OF ALL PARTICIPANTS
  1. The Discovery Tour involves time and effort throughout the year. This work is shared by all members.
  2. Each participant works on at least one committee (see list on application form).
  3. Since such an event is to welcome visitors into our studios and workshops, participants are encouraged to demonstrate during the weekend. These demos are always popular with the public i.e. showing work in progress helps visitors to understand your creative process.
  4. All participants are expected to actively distribute the Tour brochures.
  5. The Discovery Tour supports the North Gower and Outreach Food Bank and each stop is encouraged to have a "bank" and/or a box to collect donations.
